First of all, you will notice that in between the two stun probes up front, is a handy LED light to guide you safely to your door (not really as bright I would have hoped). You can also use it to guide you to your target at night. All you do is slide the switch on the bottom right side up one notch. This will put it in the center position, and it's on. Back down, and it's off.
The next feature is the flashing emergency light and distress siren (personal alarm) that are both operated from the red round button just above the rectangular slider that you use to turn the LED light on. Just push it once and the siren begins to screech and hopefully give a loud enough signal to get you some help or at least some attention when in distress.
Next, push the same RED round button again and the red flashing lights begin to pulse. This could be a very handy distress signal when you want to let someone know where you are when in trouble and it's pitch black outside. Push it one more time and the flashing light goes off.
My favorite part is the main reason that one buys this device for in the first place, the Stun Gun feature. The SM-Multi Stun Gun is 9.5 million volts of knock-out power at your fingertips. All you do is slide the same rectangular switch to the uppermost position and the little RED pilot light will shine. This means you are ready to fire. All you have to do then (while this pilot light is still on) is immediately press the TOP red round button. Yes, all you have to do is press it and snap, crackle, pop it fires scaring you and anyone around you test firing it.
There is also a little silver metal pin on a leash that acts as a really neat safety factor with this particular model. IT is designed to plug into the bottom and you wrap the leash around your wrist. If an assailant somehow grabs your stun gun away from you, the pin will be disconnected from the device and it will no longer operate, and he can't use it on you. Everything else will operate but not the stun gun part. But remember, when you are ready for action that you plug the pin in.
A word of caution. Remember not to test fire it into the air for more than second at a time without any resistance as it could damage the device and void the warranty. Also do not over charge it since it comes already sufficiently charged out of the box. You can charge it for about an hour about once a month if you haven't been using it too much or using it for a flashlight regularly. It also comes with a sturdy nylon and Velcro case.
