How to Avoid Being Robbed

Article by Great Wall Defense an Online  Personal Defense Store

Robbery can be a very serious crime, more serious than you may have imagined in times past. These days, there is always the possibility that a robbery will involve a weapon. Add to that, the potential for injury, the possibility of great material loss, serious bodily injury, sexual assault, and even death. Some robberies can even involve multiple assailants in the form of gang efforts. It would be wise to think about these possibilities before you are targeted and taken by surprise---when its is too late. Rather it would be wise to ponder over the possibilities and plan ahead or even buy a personal defense weapon like a Taser or a Stun Gun in case you have no choice except to fight back. These kinds of considerations ahead of time lessen your chances of harm. It is better to have prevention in mind before being assaulted or robbed rather than dealing with the sad consequences after the fact.

Here are four tips to help you to avoid being robbed, or injured if you are, so that the potential criminal decides to find another target, or better, just gives up.

1. Never brag about having a large amount of cash, valuables, or jewelry on your person. This is applicable to when you’re in the bar, at work, school, or on a vacation. When you’re travelling internationally, criminals can target the tourists first, as they’re less likely to report the crime. It’s like the tourists always seem to have a large target painted on their backs. Keep money split up into different wallets and bags (even consider buying a Hidden Stash Safe), in this way, if you are robbed, you will still have some cash left to enjoy the remaining vacation.

2. Always think ahead. Keep your keys ready. Don’t be seen as fumbling around in your purse or pockets for your keys, and don’t carry more items than you can handle. Be especially vigilant at night time. Try to carry a Flashlight Stun Gun such as the Lipstick Stun Gun that will light to find your way, or it doubles as a quick response weapon in case someone is approaching from behind you. Ideally though, if you can arrange a car ride with a relative or a close friend—then do so. Do your heaviest grocery shopping only during the daylight hours. Use Google Maps to plan your route in advance, and don’t be seen carrying a map around. Give the impression that you know exactly where you are going.

3. Should you still be confronted by a robber, even if you haven’t been carrying a purse, drop your wallet, cellphone and laptop case on the ground and run. They’ll be too busy collecting the loot and getting away, and won’t be worried about you. Most robbers only want the money for their next drug purchase, but if they also have other bad intentions, it’s best to get away fast. You can always replace your credit cards and electronic devices, but it’s hard to heal up mentally from an assault.

4. Remember that if you attempt to resist a robbery that involves only material possessions, there is always the potential for being hurt. You never know when the perpetrator may be carrying a knife or a gun. Besides, if you're concerned about losing possessions, then do not wear showy displays of expensive jewelry that invite robbery. If you normally carry large amounts of money with you in your wallet, then stash the big bills in your pocket or somewhere not so obvious as your wallet. If you have been injured during a robbery, lay motionless. You don’t want them to panic and injure you further. Let them grab the loot and run.

Robbery is often an opportunistic crime, and no matter how much you try to avoid it, there’s that desperate drug user who needs $5 for their next drug hit. Do your best to avoid robbers and you’ll keep yourself safe, secure, and alive to see another day.

Review of the Stun Master Multi-Function Stun Gun

I must say I really like this Multi-Purpose Stun Gun for several reasons. I say several  because this device has several functions if several means four. Beyond the obvious devastating stun power that it carries, there are other safety features that make this a well-rounded personal protection device.

First of all, you will notice that in between the two stun probes up front, is a handy LED light to guide you safely to your door  (not really as bright I would have hoped). You can also use it to guide you to your target at night. All you do is slide the switch on the bottom right side up one notch. This will put it in the center position, and it's on. Back down, and it's off.

The next feature is the flashing emergency light and distress siren (personal alarm) that are both operated from the red round button just above the rectangular slider that you use to turn the LED light on. Just push it once and the siren begins to screech and hopefully  give a loud enough signal to get you some help or at least some attention when in distress.

Next, push the same RED round button again and the red flashing lights begin to pulse. This could be a very handy distress signal when you want to let someone know where you are when in trouble and it's pitch black outside. Push it one more time and the flashing light goes off.

My favorite part is the main reason that one buys this device for in the first place, the Stun Gun feature. The SM-Multi Stun Gun is 9.5 million volts of knock-out power at your fingertips. All you do is slide the same rectangular switch to the uppermost position and the little RED pilot light will shine. This means you are ready to fire. All you have to do then (while this pilot light is still on) is immediately press the TOP red round button. Yes, all you have to do is press it and snap, crackle, pop it fires  scaring you and anyone around you test firing it.

There is also a little silver metal pin on a leash that acts as a really neat safety factor with this particular model. IT is designed to plug into the bottom and you wrap the leash around your wrist. If an assailant somehow grabs your stun gun away from you, the pin will be disconnected from the device and it will no longer operate, and he can't use it on you. Everything else will operate but not the stun gun part. But remember, when you are ready for action that you plug the pin in.

A word of caution. Remember not to test fire it into the air for more than second at a time without any resistance as it could damage the device and void the warranty. Also do not over charge it since it comes already sufficiently charged out of the box. You can charge it for about an hour about once a month if you haven't been using it too much or using it for a flashlight regularly. It also comes with a sturdy nylon and Velcro case.
